The Public License Register supports transparency by giving users a direct way to confirm whether an entity is recorded in the official system. It is intended for applicants, listed firms, counterparties, payment providers, professional advisers and members of the public.
Each register entry should be read as a public record summary. It does not replace the underlying framework documents, any applicable terms, or direct correspondence issued by the Authority.
- Confirm whether the entity name appears on the register.
- Review the status shown on the official entry.
- Check the category, reference number and public particulars where shown.
- Use the live register instead of screenshots or copied extracts.
Trust, accuracy and limitations
The register is designed to reduce ambiguity, but users must still read the full entry carefully. Similar names, outdated marketing materials, group-company references and third-party claims can create confusion if the recorded information is not checked directly.
If a person or firm claims to be listed but cannot be found through the register, users should request the exact legal name, reference details and official verification route before relying on that claim.
- Use exact legal names wherever possible.
- Check whether the status is active, suspended, revoked or otherwise limited.
- Be cautious with altered certificates, copied pages and unofficial registers.
- Contact the Authority if a public claim appears inconsistent with the register.
